Divine

Website
With Divine Free Edition, you can convert ANY Photoshop design to a WordPress theme. Divine was developed for those who know a bit from Photoshop and sites creation but don't want to get bored marking up a valid site on the basis of CMS manually. By the way, the site gets uploaded to the server via the built-in FTP-client.

A great improvement will be the user to be able to drag and drop WP elements over his design, also to re-size them according to his design.
I've tested on some of my design and except header and footer the content was very distortion-ed as in parts saw by the Divine, couldn't see perfect sizes of the left and right bars, the main content part and so on.

If any makes a astonish design and tries to publish it as a WP theme, he will eventually have to slice the design by his own.
Adding drag&drop feature and also re-size feature in Divine will make it easier to use even for beginners and fully capable of mods for experienced user.

My opinion...
Official response:
Thank you for your participation and cool ideas.

We'll definitely implement them in the next updates of Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) Edition.

maybe have a tute in it where users have the option of step by step questions by the prog, which would make them do each step without forgetting something
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

As you probably know, the release date of Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) is coming. It'll have hints with descriptions of any step for each element. Besides, we'll offer step-by-step instructions for work with the plugin at our official website soon.

A cool feature would be the ability to assign custom field to an object for the anticipation of timthumb on a image area or even for meta data on a post that the user wishes to print out in a sidebar or something. An example would be if a photographer wished to show the specs such as IPTC or other meta data.
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project and a good suggestion.

We'll consider it in plugin's future editions.

Often there are blocks or area's of a home page that need to pull from a specific category. For example, the Why Divine? area of (www.divine-project.com/) can pull from the latest post of category Home with an automatic excerpt of X characters, unique title and learn more button styles.

As Wordpress is now being used more and more as a CMS and not just a blog, this is becoming more and more essential to have.
Official response:
Thanks for this suggestion.

We'll consider it later.

Wordpress 3.0 introduces several new features that I am not sure Divine accommodates yet but the most pertinent is probably the Custom Background Image option, Menu Management and Custom Post Types.

I think Divine should incorporate all three of these items out of the box to stay current.
Official response:
Yes, we know about these new features and, of cause, our goal is to keep up with the times.

We'll definitely consider them in our future releases.

hey, im using photoshop cs5 on a 64bit windows 7. I've tried installing it with the methods you've posted in comments but no luck?
Official response:
Sorry for this inconvenience.

Unfortunately, Divine Free Edition works unstable with Win 7 and 64bit.

It would be a great idea to open the program slightly so that users could create templates for CMS' that aren't supported or custom CMS' and you could even open this up as a community thing to allow users to shared the "templates" between each other. This would also allow Divine to quickly add new CMS' to the program as other users will have done the bulk of work.
Official response:
Thanks for your great idea.

We'll take it into account.

I dont know if its already added or planned. So I will fast add some sentences to this. I used today the personal Edition the first time and tried to figure out why the grid was no shown even when the check box was on. After a while i found out the grid lines was nearly on the same place where my page background had the same colour. So it would be really nice if there will be an option in all version to modify the standard grid colour - may another user dont waste 30 minutes like me :D
Official response:
Thank you for the idea about grid color. We'll take it into account.

By the way, you used Divine Free Edition. Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) is not available at the moment. It'll be released soon.

After installing Divine I noticed that it messes my slices up in Photoshop. Normally you'd see the slices numbered. After the install there are no numbers. just empty boxes.
Now I know you guys limited the free version. It can only save .gif images. Why does Photoshop's 'save for web' option only save as .gif's?
I de installed the Divine plugin because it seemed to break stuff.. After I de installed nothing changed. I'd assume it would undo the stuff it broke but it clearly didn't.

Pretty weak if you ask me. Now I have to reinstall Photoshop for experimenting with a very limited piece of software.

Thanks.
Official response:
Sorry for this inconvenience. To clear the situation, please could you send us screenshots.

The feature you described will be implemented in the nearest updates after release.

HTML5! It will be great if we can have a HTML5 video player with a flash step down feature if the browser doesn't support HTML5.
Official response:
Thanks for the idea.

We'll consider it in the nearest time.

Many people who have word press blogs try all these sites to make their website mobile friendly. They always end up looking like trash. It would be awesome if they could make their mobile blog right in Divine
Official response:
Thanks for the idea!

We'll consider it in the nearest future.

If you select an Element and assign it to the wrong category. You should be able to undo. Currently there is no option for this action.
Official response:
Thank you for the interest in Divine project.

Your idea is already implemented in Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal). You'll be able to try it soon.

I really am pumped about what you are doing!

I am actually running a child theme, which basically just tweaks a core theme for Wordpress, making theme updates possible without changing the custom design changes.

Do you have any plans to work with this Child Themes capability in WP?
Official response:
It's really great idea! Thanks!

If it gets a good number of votes, we'll definitely work on it.

How hard would it be to reverse engineer an existing theme structure made outside of Diving into the Divine Layout Editor environment that can then be tweaked from there?
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

You can upload any PSD template in Divine and specify all necessary parameters such as layout grid, etc. in Layout Editor. All that will be available in Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal).

Will there be a mac os x beta? an can I be a beta tester for it?
Official response:
Thanks for your interest in Divine project.

We wouldn’t like to give you hope saying the exact day of release and then delay it. We are working on many tasks now, and they are really outstanding.
So, when it’s ready, we’ll inform all of you. And there will be a possibility to become a Mac OS X beta tester.

I have a client who rather not have sidebars so that the theme can use the full width. Preference is to have links in the footer. It would be great if the ability to remove sidebars was included.
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

Good idea. We'll consider it later.
