Divine

Website
With Divine Free Edition, you can convert ANY Photoshop design to a WordPress theme. Divine was developed for those who know a bit from Photoshop and sites creation but don't want to get bored marking up a valid site on the basis of CMS manually. By the way, the site gets uploaded to the server via the built-in FTP-client.

Looks like a wonderful product, curious as to how much you think Divine Pro (Or Extended?) will cost when it's released in full.

Thanks ;)
Keep it up Divine Team!
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

Release of Divine Pro (Extended) is definitely in our plans in the nearest future. But its whole functional is not clarified yet. So, it is difficult to tell something exact about the price for now.

As soon as we fix the price, we’ll let you know.

It would be great I think if there was an option to create two (or more) seperate template files on wich you can base your pages. Right now I do this by hand by duplicatin and modifying index.php. Great if you want certain pages to be based on a different design.
Official response:
Yeah! It's a cool idea indeed. We'll definitely take it into account later.

We have received the same requests before, and it'll most likely become a new feature of Divine Extended Edition.

Hi Guys,

One feature I hope devine will have is the abillity to create more than one kind of layout. I verry often see the standard margin 0 auto; layout but it would be great if it where also possible to create layouts with flexible widths as well as absolute positioned widths (and if it where also possible to center a layout vertically that would be awesome!!).
Official response:
As you probably know, Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) will have a new feature - Layout Editor. So, the issue you've described will be available there.

You'll have the possibility to set all parameters of page layout using Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) Edition.

Joomla's definitely in our plans for future.

When I designed a search box, I draw a rectangular and add some image to decorate. When I started Divine, I can't make it become a text field. I must back to photoshop and write some thing on it

Why we don't make a textfield drawing tool in divine, when we want to insert textfield into web, we just draw it in divine. It's easier for most customer to use textfield draw tool than back to photoshop and draw useless textfield.
Official response:
I'd like to clear the situation.

In free version a text field can be assigned only in the Sidebar block.
All design activities concerning your layout are made in Photoshop.

Divine was created to help you to convert your layout in a ready functioning theme.

It would be a great thing if divine would come with a function to insert widget areas in a theme wherever you like!
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

It's really a good idea! This function is planned for the next versions.

I design in Photoshop and currently use another software for conversion to XHTML. It does a very good job, yet I would not look forward to the many hours it would take me to manually convert this XHTML to a WordPress template. So I am very excited that you are developing Divine.

My question is, will there be a way within Divine to create a drop down menu in the header region, such as a CSS Suckerfish type menu, that will be based on pages or catagories?

Thanks,
Michael
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

This function will be implemented in future Divine editions.

Official response:
Thank you for the question.

Unfortunately, we don't work with Paintshop pro X2,
and we're not planning it in future.

I would love to see a comparison chart of features to help show users why to use Divine over say Adobe Fireworks, and any other similar products. The first question I asked myself when I first saw what Divine did will it have features Fireworks doesn't have, etc. Also could cross-compare between Personal, Extended and PRO features.
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

The comparison chart you have mentioned will be added to our official site in the nearest future.

And now please find our comparison chart between Free and Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) Editions.
Of cause, it'll show our progress in plugin's development as new features are implemented.

I haven't seen the output yet of Divine, but I haven't seen anything mentioned about this yet. But this might be a good idea to throw into at least the Extended and especially the PRO version. That branding information (logo, link, etc) automatically go into the theme design. I'm also interested to see what information is put into the output code. Would be nice to have it also input special instructions area of code for contact, version info, support site, etc.
Official response:
Thank you for this idea and your interest in Divine project.

This feature will be implemented in the next versions of Divine.

For those professionals who focus primarily on theme design. It would be nice to perhaps have direct upload capabilities to some of the more popular theme websites. This would not only make it easier for those who know what they are doing, but it would also provide some direction to those who are just getting into the themeing biz.
Official response:
Great idea indeed. We'll consider your idea.

By the way, there will be a new section "Themes" at our official site very soon. So, everyone will have a chance to submit a theme there.

Official response:
We are working on this issue now.

The section Documentation at our official site will be updated soon.
We'll also add a document that can be downloaded for local preview.

If I open the template document, everything seems to be OK. Divine runs perfectly. But if I try to create a new image (1000 x 1000px), and then open Divine, it just crashes. I'm using Photoshop CS3 on a Windows 7 machine. What I'm doing wrong? :)
Official response:
Thank you for your observation and interest in Divine project.

We're sorry for the inconvenience you've mentioned. Our developers are fixing the problem at the moment. And it'll be eliminated soonest possible.
0 comments Pablo 2010-03-16 20:59:09
In the sidebar section i can only add Form text field and Form submit button and in the post section i can't add anything while in the tutorial video there are alot more options?

Any way to fix this?
Official response:
Thank you for your interest in Divine project.

We have already fixed the issue you described in the new version.

Meanwhile in the Free edition, please follow our instructions:
You can assign the rest elements only on text layers, but as you could see in the Elements panel on the right, they were not caught in Sidebar and Post areas.
So, please check text layers in Photoshop and clear away effects, transformation, etc. and start again.

Just downloaded this for my personal machine at home. I have a very slick layout designed and have been looking at ways to make it reality. Your program looks like it could be VERY useful. I will definitely let you know how things go with it.
Official response:
Thank you for these warm words.

We are doing our best.

It was said that the release date is near, that we still have to wait long and then the release date is a half year further.. it would be released in october 2009 or something.. now its second quarter of 2010... omg..

Don't post release dates or just keep you on that date..
Official response:
Sorry for this inconvenience. We really understand you, as the date of release was delayed indeed to compare with previously announced.

The main reason for such delay is that the edition to be released hasn’t corresponded to our views about a ready product.

However, be sure, we do our best to start the product as soon as possible. But it sometimes takes too much time to solve required tasks.

"With Divine Free Edition, you can convert ANY Photoshop design to a WordPress theme. Divine was developed for those who know a bit from Photoshop and sites creation but don't want to get bored marking up a valid site on the basis of CMS manually."

Well, I was going to test this on a client of mine today, but since the layout is fixed to a simple left sidebar and right content area and cannot be adjusted, I cannot really test this.
Official response:
Of cause, there are several limitations in Divine Free Edition as it's a tech demo of the plugin.

However, you'll be able to try the first paid edition - Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) without such limitations very soon. The release date will be announced soon.

How do you plan to make money? I'm curious because I like to know the tools I use are going to be supported and if you don't end up making money with it then it won't be over time.
Official response:
Thank you for your question.
We are developing Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) that will cost in range $100-200.
Please check details and release dates at our post: When are the later paid versions coming out?
