Divine

Website
With Divine Free Edition, you can convert ANY Photoshop design to a WordPress theme. Divine was developed for those who know a bit from Photoshop and sites creation but don't want to get bored marking up a valid site on the basis of CMS manually. By the way, the site gets uploaded to the server via the built-in FTP-client.

I've come across a WP editor recently that works within Wordpress itself rather than on a specific PC - so it allows me to work on WP sites when I'm away from home, using devices like iPhone/iPad. I have a business that specialises in web applications, so I'd love to see a Web App version of Divine.
Official response:
Thanks for the idea.

We'll consider it in the nearest time.

Divine is truly the best plugin i have ever used in photoshop, its extremely fast to load ( a must when designing a site in demand), the GUI is absolutely stunning you guys clearly know a lot about design and this is expressed throughout the application. Keep up the great work and hopefully more people will start to make the link between photoshop and wordpress.I personally recommend this plugin to all my friends and most of whom use it daily and love it.
Official response:
Thank you very much for these kind words!

We are doing our best.

By the way, Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) with no limitations and new features will be released in the nearest future.

It would be helpful to have a special flag in the PSD file that prompts Divine to know a video embed will be there, so that a quick copy paste can finish your site.
Official response:
Thanks for your interest in Divine project.

We'll consider your idea in the nearest future.

Does divine take care of the navigation bar? in context to listing all the parent page and child links, current page item images etc.

Instead of manually selecting what is "what", why not use a standard to name photoshop layers and layer groups based on what it is (header, footer, content , sidebar title, etc) and then automatically extract the items based on their names. this would relieve users from selecting it manually. Could be called as Wizard.

Also with the free version of this plugin please provide a detailed tutorial on creating a sample full theme so that the users are not lost when they run your plugin.

The layers and elements should have options on right click in the layers and elements list area.

All this is with regards to free edition which i used so i have no idea if this is implemented in beta version.
Official response:
Thanks for the ideas and your interest in Divine project.

We'll consider them in the nearest time.

Hello, I must be professional in encoding or anyone can use Divine?
i ask because i'm only a designer and i don't know anything about encoding
another ask: the Divine result will be professional or the result need to edit manually in the end ?
Thanks
Official response:
Photoshop basics are pretty enough.
General notions about web technologies are completely enough.

Please make them more noticeable, they are almost black.

Official response:
Our developers have already made the colour a bit lighter, check it up:)

Can we make such an automatic menu for wp themes with this?
Official response:
You can make an auto menu in WordPress widgets, this way you'll get auto pages on the left in the sidebar.
In case you want to include such menu to header or footer, unfortunately it's impossible for now, as Divine Free version has certain limitations. Still, you can assign links to useritems with no problems. Please follow this link to see how it's done: First launch

I run CS3 Portable on my USB, any chance it will ever support this rather than just saying "Photoshop is not installed!" ?
Official response:
Sorry for the trouble.
This issue was connected with the installer that we have already fixed. So, this problem is eliminated. Please try again.

As of now, Divine automatically selects the latest PHOTOSHOP and installs itself there, without a selection screen. A feature that should be added to Divine, is that when it's being installed it should list all the installed compatible Photoshop versions, and let the user decide which one to install it on, since Divine isn't compatible with PHOTOSHOP 11(CS4)
Official response:
Thanks for your suggestion:)
Divine team has already implemented it in the latest version :)
Please download the latest one.

I tested the Divine with a PC emulator on my Mac Book and it ran perfectly, though a PC version of Photoshop CS4. My suggestion: A SDK version for developers.
Official response:
Thank you:)
We're planning Mac version soon. But your suggestion is brilliant, we'll take it into consideration.

I was fully able to install Divine with no issues, although I have Photoshop CS. I saw in your requirements, that you don't necessarily support this software version.

Is there something I'm missing, or could it potentially work? I had no problems launching Divine. Everything seems to be there. I am still testing, to see if I can view the various elements.

Anyways, thought I'd see what there was to see about this. Thank you!
Official response:
Divine doesn't work stable on CS version of Photoshop yet. This is exactly why we cannot state that our product supports Photoshop CS.

I (and many web designers I work with) prefer Fireworks to create website comps. Fireworks provides better control as it lets you create with vectors and bitmaps simultaneously, with the ability to transform one to the other without having to switch applications.

Are you looking to build in support for Fireworks CS4 in the full version?
Official response:
Unfortunately we don't plan adjusting Divine to Fireworks.

I see and understand that this limitation would motivate designers to buy a paid version of the site but the frustration that comes once you realize that you cant do what you would like to as a designer is devastating. I was super excited when I came across this plugin and I was grinning ear to ear with the hope that this plugin was going to allow me the freedom to turn almost anything I created into a WordPress theme. I felt like I could create intricate and unique layouts but I got shot down with that nuclear missile of a limitation.

My spirits dropped so drastically that I almost uninstalled the program out of pure frustration.

I feel it might better serve you to allow customization of the grid in the free version but to limit the amount of themes a user can produce.

That way I can get the full experience and buy the paid version with a smile instead of a frustrated brow.
Official response:
Xavier,
we made up a limited version of Divine plugin to let you know what our software is, how it works and how it can help you. It wasn't a mean trick to hook you:)
Meanwhile, we're developing the plugin, looking up to your criticism and improving the software.
We're ready to present the trial soon. But for now you can only use Divine Free, and soon - Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) with much more functions.

upd: Good news! We're announcing a new feature in Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) - Layout editor

Please leave your comments, questions, ideas about Layout editor

I would like to see, in future releases, the implementation of Custom Fields that are able to be used. For example, I could design a theme that has posts with Thumbnails and I am able to implement that into the theme, where I can add that custom field to every post and define a URL that the Thumbnail will be taken from.
Official response:
This functionality will be included in the following versions of Divine.

I have no clue what so ever on how to make an icon into a link (I designed using custom shapes) for example "home" is a house, "portfolio" is a artist pen and so on. When I activate Divine it shows me the elements, but if i want to make the house into a "home" link I have 1: no clue if i should write the full link or just simply home.php (thinking WordPress is smart enough to translate this - I'm not even sure if it is actually php), and 2: what are 'user defined...' when I can define little to almost nothing.

Overall I find this to much tech stuff for a art designer who really loves to work with her own templates in WordPress. You guys are make it possible for me if only I could understand how the heck I can get Divine to do what I want it to do (with out needing to learning to understand it).
Official response:
Actually, Divine Free does have an option of assigning links to elements (the limited number is 5).
I.e.: you choose an element (text or image) from Header or Footer, assign this element as Useritem and type in the address in the "Link" field of the "Element properties" panel.

Man, you guys made my life so much easier...I am able to build sites from scratch with HTML & CSS and the likes....and I'm also a Graphics Designer, so I can build my own sites graphically...

But having the ability to do so without losing the exact look from going to Photoshop to coding is amazing...

And not to mention its main use is for WordPress theme making...I have tried over and over to do this...and I fail miserably every time...something is always coded or placed wrong so it looks like crap.

So by making this program you have made my life so much easier...

And after the personal edition comes out with the layout editor...I will start offering WordPress themes for my clients, and doing so by using this amazing program for making WordPress themes :]

Thank you so much Divine team.

Really...Thank you. :]
Official response:
Thank you so much for taking part in our project's life.
The full paid version will be released soon.

For some reason when publishing, the background images, and the header as well, don't appear in the puplished document. I'm guessing they should, cause in the demo and tutorials, they do. I'm using CS4 and the layout you provide in divine website.
Is there a solution for this?
Official response:
Sorry for this inconvenience.
Please send us a screenshot using our contact form.
As soon as we receive it, we'll try to work out this issue.

Divine : is an amazing idea. Many programs like Artisteer have just failed to make a mark, but I personally think that Divine would. Main problem with Artisteer is its High Price and the Watermarks on the final theme (in its Trial version). I think this is the thing to learn from that software. You should try to have th efinal price lower so that everyone can buy it without any problems.. Thanks,
Abhishek
Official response:
From the very beginning we were going to release a free version for everyone to whom it would be necessary. However, as Divine project creation became possible owing to investments, we develop a paid version with extended functional to get an opportunity of paying the Divine team’s bills and covering the total investment volume.

I’d like also to emphasize that the price will not be so expensive. Either professional or student will be able to afford it, as the main goal of our project is to make PSD>CMS process easier and more qualitative for everyone.
