Divine

Website
With Divine Free Edition, you can convert ANY Photoshop design to a WordPress theme. Divine was developed for those who know a bit from Photoshop and sites creation but don't want to get bored marking up a valid site on the basis of CMS manually. By the way, the site gets uploaded to the server via the built-in FTP-client.

Official response:
Unfortunately for now you can only use Divine under Windows.
But the good news is that we are going to release Mac version of Divine.

Hint from our user (Thanks, Niero!):
"...the only way to run things efficiently at the moment is to get a trial version of Photoshop for Windows and run it (preferably on two screens) via Parallels or VMware drag and dropping from one end to the other. Far from efficient, but gets the job done far quicker than going in manually."

Now you only can put the Sidebar on the left side, and the content box on the rights side. Maybe change it? That you can put it where you want. Because now you always have the same style. Header, Sidebar left, Content box right and the footer. So maybe change it so that you can make more variation. :)

Good day, I'd like to express my appreciation to you and to this lovely project. I've just noticed that "Divine" cannot detect Photoshop 64 Bit version .. when i click to launch setup i got this message : "Divine installer did not find Photoshop on Your computer!" Waiting to hear from you about this tiny problem. Regards.
Official response:
Sorry for that trouble, I'll try to clarify things to you.
Unfortunately, we don't support 64-Bit products for now, and we haven't tested these systems yet. Divine works under 32-Bit Photoshop and Windows only. So let's try to figure out why some of you guys seem to be working with Divine under 64-bit versions of Windows and Photoshop normally.

The first and the most obvious reason of this mix-up might be the mismatch between Windows and Photoshop: one of them must be 64-bit, the other - 32. So, please check what OS and PS versions you run.
The perfect solution would be sending us a screenshot of Photoshop version: Photoshop menu -> About Photoshop
To connect with us, please use a contact form

Hope this will resolve the issue

Dear Divine, I love the concept and interface design of your product. I just have a couple questions; 1) With later paid extensions, will you not be limited in terms of layout like the free version. Basically, will you be able to make a WordPress theme identical to your psd design? 2) When are the later paid versions coming out? 3) How much will they roughly cost? I love the product and it will transform the way i design websites for my clients and i am going to definitely be buying this product in the future when it is released! Please, Please, Please get back to me on these questions, i would really appreciate it. Many thanks /Alex Totterman
Official response:
Thank you for these warm words, we're doing our best :)
Answering your questions one by one:
1. Yes, it'll be possible to make a WordPress theme identical to the PSD design.
2. Paid versions are yet in their development stage - the release of Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) Edition will be ready in 2010.
3. The final price will be between $100-200 for the Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) Edition because of greatly extended functionality in comparison with Free one. So, now it's not only for bloggers (as we thought before) but for designers and web developers who are very interested in our product too.

I advise you to do the following:
please launch your Photoshop CS4 and go to

In Photoshop CS3 you'll find Divine here:

Hope this helps.

Official response:
Divine team has already fixed that :)
Please try downloading again.

I love the concept of Divine, I am huge fan of Sitegrinder, another plug in for Photoshop that allows me a total Designer to build really sharp websites in a tenth of the time. I see Divine as being the blog side of Sitegrinder. I am very excited about your product.
Two ideas:
First your documentation and movies are very very week. For instance, what do I do on the photoshop side? Are a lot of layers okay or should I flatten parts of it before I run divine on it? Is there more than one template? You keep saying the free version is limited and only has so many features. What do the paid versions have? A comparison chart would be good.
Finally your videos, they are so small no matter how much I zoom in on my browser I have a hard time seeing them. There doesn't seem to be any sound or talking (see Lynda.com, that is what I am looking for) on your videos.
Must I upload it to my account through FTP, I want to do that manually, I suggest adding that option to write it to my hard drive to manually upload the files.
DOCUMENTATION! First and foremost! Please!
Official response:
Thank you so much for healthy criticism :) That's what we're here for - to take your remarks into consideration.

Divine works with any kinds of layers, so there's actually no need to change them in Photoshop. You can create or adapt the existing layouts to our grid (we'll soon publish instructions on ithis issue).

Your note about the comparison chart is brilliant, and we're now working on this, it'll soon be published :)

About the video - please expand it to the entire screen (there's also HD format available). For now the sound is missing, but we'll fix it.

Temporary files are saved here: Temp/DivineTemp/Preview
In the nearest program releases you'll get a possibility to select a folder for the temporary files.

Ability to insert JQuery or similar sliders for "above the fold" landing pages not to mention many other things.
Official response:
Thank you for a good idea!

It's in our plans for the next updates of the plugin.

You could maybe implement a few good plugins that would be for Divine users only. For example after designing and plublishing the theme, plugin installed into WordPress that could be used to easily re-edit the theme.
Official response:
Great idea indeed, we'll take it into account for future versions.
Thanks a lot!!! Any other ideas? :)

I saw it mentioned that the extended versions and Divine PRO would be capable of exporting for more than just WordPress (i.e., Joomla). I think it would be really nice to be able to test that feature. It's nice to know how to use software and know how to get it to do what you want it to do before buying. Will there be a demo version available so we can see that capability in action? Or maybe even videos?
Official response:
After we launch extended version of Divine, you'll be able to watch demo videos at our official site.

Downloaded Divine and it sounds great. Unfortunately the site does not say anywhere that you have to have Photoshop, just that it converts from a PSD. Perhaps you should mention that!

the divine site and the demo theme are not valid and have a lot of errors?
Official response:
Divine project has just been launched, the whole process is still being developed. We know about some of the inconveniences, and we are glad to hear constructive criticism and advice from you, guys.
We're working on this problem at the moment, and it'll be fixed soonest possible.

Great in the idea, however the execution is lacking. Perhaps it is me. When I make a design I try and add an 'element' like your videos show - however there are no predefined elements. All I see is 'user defined'. If that's how it is - ok, fine but it's easier for me to just code it by hand than go through and set elements for everything ... so if you have a set element that would be great.
Official response:
Please let me make things clear here.

At the present moment the documentation is yet on its early stage. Free version is a kind of experiment - you suggest, we improve. And we have two answers to your request:

1. If you didn't figure out how to assign elements, please follow this link to get the proper information: Elements
(Note: Useritems 1-5 are universal elements - take them as links and remember that they belong to Header and Footer areas only! Sidebar and Post areas contain the list of different elements, such as Post title).

2. We are soon planning to demonstrate the Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) version full functionality. There you'll find ready-made elements that Divine recognizes from Photoshop to save you time and effort from the manual selection of ALL the elements for each template.

when will the beta testing start?
Official response:
Good news - beta testing started on August, 21st! :)
If you still want to become a beta tester, please use our contact form and we'll provide you with the details.
For now only Divine Free Edition is available for downloading. Divine Free is also under beta testing at the moment. The next version to be released is Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal).
But the good news is that we are planning to show you screenshots of Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) in the nearest future. As long as its functionality is yet unstable, we’ll publish the first plugin build for all beta testers. The release date will be announced in 2010.
To turn beta testing in the maximum efficient process, we’re selecting beta testers our own way (which is stated in the Agreement and NDA). As the result - the most active testers will get Divine Elemente (formerly Divine Personal) as a reward.
